Deep Tissue & Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is manual technique for stretching the fascia with the aim to balance the body. Fascia is located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone, it is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body. Injuries, stress, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to fascia, and the goal of myofascial release is to unlock fascia restriction and restore its balance.

Myoskeletal Alignment for Lower Back, Hip & Leg Pain with Erik Dalton PhD

Myoskeletal Alignment is a respected multi-modality pain management system designed to alleviate reflex muscle guarding caused by joint blockage. This is accomplished through restoration of proper neural, myofascial and skeletal function. The myoskeletal goal is to establish pain-free movement during the walking cycle.

This six volume 'Spinal Engine' DVD series based on ground breaking research developed by Dr. Serge Gracovetsky. His discovery that the spine is the engine driving the legs has dramatically altered the view of body movement and opened exciting new clinical avenues for assessing and treating chronic pain syndromes.

This high-tech video technology is enhanced with practical strategies for correcting hidden kinks in the muscle-joint kinetic chain based on Serge Gracovetsky's "Spinal Engine" concept. It took 13 months to film, this is the most extensive and expensive produced series in the bodywork industry. Don't miss it.

Over 6 hours of high definition video in a 6 DVD box-set, Myoskeletal Alignment for Lower Back, Hip and Leg Pain includes:

  1. Myoskeletal Mechanic
  2. Fixing Kinetic Kinks
  3. Bone & Belly Work
  4. Sacroiliac Syndromes
  5. Toning the Core & Pelvic Floor
  6. Unlocking Lumbars

  • Forward head posture
  • Neck “Cricks”
  • Head and Rib Pain
  • Whiplash
  • Dowager’s Hump
  • Sports Injuries

  • Thoracic Outlet
  • Scoliosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Postural Disorders

On disk one, Dr. Dalton reviews his” dirty dozen” techniques, which are 12 advanced methods for the correction of the Upper Cross Syndrome. Disk 2 reviews the treatment of more chronic and difficult cases seen involving the head, neck and upper extremity. You will learn fascial release techniques for the diaphragm, thoracic outlet region, and other areas of compensation. Later on, he reviews treatment to the base of the skull and release techniques for the sub-occipital muscles in cases of whiplash, headache and neck pain.

Evaluation techniques are also demonstrated for altered biomechanics and release methods for the anterior and posterior cervical musculature. A great concept is utilized here: Myotherapy procedures are delivered on a glass surface under the patient, allowing the viewer to see the hand action of the practitioner. I thought it was a unique concept in teaching manual methods on patients while they are supine. Overall, you will find these clips superb. There is a lot of information to learn and review; however, being able to spin through it on this form of media allows you to learn as time allows.  Dr. Dalton does a good job of passing on the work of the late Dr. Janda.  -Review from Chiropractic Today

Next, he reviews specific conditions that are seen commonly in practice, such as thoracic outlet syndrome, supraspinatus tendonitis, subdeltoid bursitis, subscapular tendonitis and bicipital tendonitis. When treating for these painful regions, he quite often moves beyond the joint of complaint and restores function in neighboring tissues.

Disk two focuses on the elbow and wrist, ending with the treatment of a patient presenting with a frozen shoulder. He reviews various elbow conditions, such as tennis elbow, golfers elbow and ulnar entrapment. For the wrist, he presents his approach toward the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, Dequervain’s syndrome and trigger finger. The frozen shoulder demonstration that ends this section of the disk involves a number of unique procedures to improve muscle and capsular mobility. Review from Chiropractic Today

Direct Release Myofascial Technique - The Trunk

by Michael Stanborough

The Trunk represents the whole area between the pelvis and neck, includes the back, lateral and front side. The first part of this series covers the Back (1 hr 23 mins). First working on the big muscles across the entire back, as well as smaller muscles that attach and working on the vertebrae. It includes a shot gun technique for releasing most shoulder and back muscles: Erector spinae, Trapezius, and Levator Scapula. These powerful techniques are supplemented with a number of highly effective prone releases. This DVD also covers Upper & Lower Back treatment. It considers coordinative movement of the body with gravity,  especially effective on releasing strain on smaller muscles on the vertebrae (multifidus) that may contribute to back pain.

The second part covers the Lateral & Anterior Aspects (1 hr 12 Mins). It shows you how to really release tight pecs. You'll be able to make real inroads into all the problems that condition is associated with - stiff shoulders, poor breathing and hunched backs. Freeing the breathing is probably the single most important release there is - this DVD shows you how to predictably get this release to occur.
